Massage & Corrective Exercise — Case File Open

Your knee hurts.
Your ankle is the culprit.

Pain rarely starts where you feel it. The body works like an equation — when one side breaks down, the other side pays for it. I find the side that's actually broken.

The body is an algebra equation.

What's happening on one side has to happen — or be influenced — on the other. When one part goes weak or tight, something else quietly picks up the slack. That "something else" is usually where you feel the pain, even though it's rarely where the problem started.

Most treatment chases the symptom. I trace the equation back to the side that's actually unbalanced — then we fix that, not just the part that's shouting the loudest.

05 PATTERNS ON RECORD
CASE 003

Low back pain that stretching won't fix

Open

The usual suspect: a tight, overworked low back. The actual driver, more often: weak or inhibited glutes and adductors that stopped stabilizing the pelvis — so the low back took over a job it was never built for.

GLUTES/ADDUCTORS (weak) → LOW BACK (overworked) → PAIN

CASE 007

Neck pain that won't release

Open

Massage helps for a day, then it's back. A stiff mid-back forces the neck to hold your head up on its own — extra work it does every waking hour.

MID-BACK (stiff) → NECK (overworked) → PAIN

CASE 011

Hip pain nobody can explain

Open

Scans come back clean. The overlooked lead: your adductors. They stabilize the pelvis more than most people realize — when they go quiet, the hip flexors and low back take the fall instead.

ADDUCTORS (inhibited) → HIP FLEXORS/LOW BACK (compensating) → PAIN

CASE 014

Knee pain with a clean knee

Open

The knee is often the messenger, not the source. Limited ankle mobility forces the knee to cave or overtravel just to let you squat or run normally.

ANKLE (restricted) → KNEE (overtravels) → PAIN

CASE 019

Afternoon headaches, every day

Open

Rarely just stress. As postural muscles fatigue through the day, the head drifts forward — straining the muscles at the base of the skull where tension headaches begin.

UPPER BACK (fatigued) → HEAD POSITION (forward) → HEADACHE

CASE 022

Old injury, new pain, years later

Open

An ankle sprain from years ago that "healed" can quietly change how you load every step since. The hip on that side has been covering for it ever since — until it can't anymore.

OLD ANKLE SPRAIN → HIP (compensating for years) → PAIN NOW
